Yes, most removal teams will take apart and rebuild furniture, but it is usually something you add when you book rather than something that happens automatically. Here is what to expect.
What usually needs taking apart
- Beds: divan bases often go whole, but most bed frames and bunk beds need dismantling.
- Large wardrobes: especially flat-pack ones that will not fit through doors or down stairs.
- Dining tables: legs often come off to protect them and save space.
- Corner sofas: usually separate into sections.
- Desks and shelving units: anything tall or awkward.
What normally goes as it is
Bedside tables, chests of drawers, most sofas, armchairs and solid wooden furniture usually move in one piece, wrapped in blankets.
How to get it right when booking
- Add dismantling and reassembly to your quote so we bring tools and allow time.
- Tell us which items, for example “1 king bed and 2 double wardrobes”.
- Mention anything antique, glass-fronted or very heavy.
Tips if you are taking it apart yourself
- Put screws and fittings in a sealed bag and tape it to the largest part of the item.
- Take a photo before you start so rebuilding is easy.
- Keep the instructions if you still have them.
- Older flat-pack can weaken each time it is rebuilt, so handle joints gently.
